NC Science Olympiad: Mousetrap Vehicle

From 2010: The vehicle must travel down the track, stop within a certain range, then reverse direction and return to the start. Note the rubberbands on the outer edge of the wheels for added traction. For 2011 the vehicle must also push an upside down cup as it goes out, then travel beyond the start on its return. @squidward2016 well you can make it out of like a wire coat hanger but you dont have to but if you do then make sure you layer it pretty wellbecause hwen i mad mine i didnt layer mine enough another great thing to use is, lots of things be inventive :)

My partner and I have to build one of these for an acc. physics project and I was curious as to how you got the mouse trap to release so slowly rather than just snap and the car take off. Reduce tension in spring?
