  • Blood flow to the head increases in anxiety! Also, embarrassment causes the capillaries in the face to expand during a sympathetic nervous system reaction associated with stress responses. Blood flow to the head also has to increase in order to keep the brain functioning efficiently... in low level anxiety, blushing can also indicate a rise in blood pressure... or a mixture of both!
