So, do you think Youtubers should deliberately support products in their videos?

  • I think selling out is promoting a product you don't use, while compromising the entertainment value of your show. Cool video.

  • Though i agree with music i think advertising is okay in moderation but the way youtube is doing it it is just execive. If you watch a tv show, for example. There would be about 9 different comerical on that video of the same thing stoping the flow. Then on a lot of popular video there are these little 20% ad's that the user didn't even agree to put on there video. It happened to me a lot of times. If you go to comedy central they only but comerical inbetween the usual breaks. no

  • The defunishon of "Selling out" refers to the compromising of one's integrity, morality and principles in exchange for money, 'success' (however defined) or other personal gain. It is commonly associated with attempts to increase mass appeal or acceptability to mainstream society. And I agree with it.

  • Just because its a comsumeristic does not mean we have to accept it. Yes money can be important the the trick is not falling into the trap of using as scoreboard points for your life. We in the You tube comunity were an untapped source of profit for advertisers. The best way to prevent ourselves selling out is to only agree to plug products we accually use and like thus keeping us happy and insuring companies have to make good products.

  • It's OK.

  • Well said.. I think Ford is doing it perfectly with the Fiesta. They gave us this car with complete freedom. I've said what I like about the car, and I've said what I dislike about the car. They don't want us to lie, or make commercials for them. They want us to have fun with it & be honest.

And I don't have a problem with any advertising like that, or even a bloggers having ads. But when they fake review or lie about loving a product, that's when the sell out line is crossed . - Jordan
