  • A note on foreshadowing of boxing in Butch's childhood (don't know if this has been mentioned) - his chin is resting prominently on his fist

  • @S0C1ALxINSUB0RDINATE Excellent :)

  • its a pawn shop not a general store

  • @Camohat100 It really doesn't alter the themes but yes.

  • the Tennessee plate also carries the motto of "volunteer state" soldiers are at least in modern times, known to be volunteers.

the name honors the bravery of the soldiers from Tennessee who served under General Andrew Jackson in the Battle of New Orleans, a U.S. victory during the War of 1812.

  • @em23 Hmmm. I didn't know that. thanks

  • SW4913=Swagie, which means Butch had #Swag.

    I can analyze, too.

  • What's interesting in Pulp Fiction is (amongst other, of course) the string of "bad lucks", as you mentionned, in the other movie chapters : Vincent "accidentaly" killing Marvin and leading to the "Bonnie Situation" and Vincent "accidentaly" leaving heroin in his pocket leading to Mia Wallace's overdose... These "little things" really bring the dark humor that sets this film apart.

  • Marsellus and pride:

Marsellus ironically becomes a victim of his own pride by chasing Butch and getting raped (and thus humiliated).

The dungeon represents a place for humiliation (sadomasochism) and where pride is lost.

Marsellus says that he is 'pretty fucking far from okay' after his pride is taken away.

  • Film is such a limited media that no connections are coincidental ... QT meant them all ... there'd be too many happy accidents for it to be all cock up rather than set up ... loved this analysis ... I never see this stuff no matter how hard I look ;)

  • @jakesbrain Yep, I save that for my film reviews lol :)

  • @robag88 Well, of course. Once you step down from metaphor to direct explanation, you're not making art anymore -- you're just lecturing.

  • a lot of people pretends that they understand what's amazing about pulp fiction.... the plot and the "gold watch" is amazing and all but the real beauty of the movie is how original it is and how the dialogue moves the plot and also the other way around....and it's original not just for the sake of being original that's why in the ending samuel l jackson decided to become a good man... the character enforces that there should be good will
