  • I suggest you get a friend to help with your videos - someone to work the camera. You keep walking out of shot and staying there.

Irkibby - I doubt a faculty would be required for such relatively minor work.

Ben - As far as I am aware Ottery is not except from the faculty system. Why hemp rope? Polyester would probably last a lot longer.

  • You must watch the rest of the videos, in which I do have friends helping me with shooting.

Hemmp was the original rope used, obviously banned because of the drug, we're trying to keep it in as much of an original condition as we can. The rope we have now is Synthetic Hempex rope, which has polypropolene in it, so we can burn the ends to seal them.

  • do you have a faculty?

  • sorry? please explain, faculty?

  • to do any non-minor work in a church requires a faculty from the Diocese.

  • The govenor I've been negotiating with has spoken to the govenors, unlike many churches, our govenors still have powers. and they gave us permission to do this, and they said they'd deal with the faculty and things like that.

  • Thank you. the 6, 7 and 8 are now complete and functional.

  • I'm working my way through them - much improved. Pity about youtubes wonderful sound sync. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Shame as it affects many otherwise great videos.

There is no legal problem with hemp rope - the druggy bit is removed long before it becomes rope. I'm not sure it's the same plant. Hempex is probably a better choice as it's longer lasting and less affected by humidity - don't use it for tailends!

Forgotten what fun Ellacombe chimes can be...

  • Ah i see

well good luck with the restoration

  • OMG i just noticed how much you look like James May!!!!lol love you crystal x x
