If memory serves me, DR was originally called Broken Glass. The first time I saw them was at TSC night, they were in the Green Room, previously the temporary Breezeway and I believe was called The Vault then.
The headliner upstairs was Barry Canning which had a fair crowd going. But how many times do we need to hear Miss American Pie?
I was wandering about and came across these guys, who were doing passable U2 covers. I grabbed my friends and said "this is what we want to see tonight"
spamtrap ... one of Dead Reckoning's 1st performances at the TSC was opening for Blue Rodeo on Nov. 24th, 1989 ... they did a few more opening slots there in following years ... with The Hip once I believe ... can't remember the others unfortunately
There are so many good bands out of Newfoundland right now, but Dead Reckoning was the first to bring about an original rock sound while maintaining that Newfoundland sound. Without Dead Reckoning there would have been no Great Big Sea. I saw Dead Reckoning several times, and I loved every performance. I can't quite recall which band they opened for at the TSC, but I think it was Gowan, wasn't it? I wish I could remember. A great band, and I still play their music constantly.
C'mon ... somebody must have some more Dead Reckoning video out there? They had a website up 'til a few years ago that had a webcast on it, plus they did a few videos ... "Honest" and "Look Ahead" and a CBC Special filmed in Long Hr. back in '94 or so.
Wow!!! That brought back a LOT of great memories!! My wife and I used to to see Dead Reckoning all the time back in the 90's ... good times ... and yes, the BEST original Rock Band to ever come out of Newfoundland.

A great Newfoundland band. They used to play a whole lot at Sidetrax in Gander. Had some great times listening to some great tunes.
