In a recent interview Obama mentioned how Republicans would work with Democrats more if they weren't punished by Fox News or Rush Limbaugh for doing so. This, apparently, is an attack on Fox News' free speech (according to Fox)...

I'm pretty sure Obama has no intent in curbing free speech, but it is Obama free speech right to to state his opinion that is the right wing pundits who actually shape what the Republican legislators do. There wasn't much I could agree with GWB, but his immigration reform was something I think he got close to right.

There is no way Coal manufacting is up! And natural gas (Fracking) has been booming, but not on public lands, all on private. I don't doubt Obama wants to do the right thing. I just don't think he knows how to distinguish who around him is well informed enough to be telling him the real truth. I think he is surrounded by people with their own agenda, and lots of big picture ideas that don't break down to sucessful policy. We need to be energy independent to be a powerful country.

Obama ' limiting the permits for drilling on public land in the US' is not factually accurate. During 1st term, with Ken Salazar at Interior Dept., the actual record of domestic energy exploration vs. land conservation is such that "drill, baby drill!" might as well have been one of Obama's campaign slogans. With the usual corporate welfare of royalty payment deductions, domestic oil, natural gas and coal production are all up; you are right that much of our energy resources are exported.
