Alert: This is a common failure item. Learn to inspect these plastic fuel lines on 1970 to 1993 BEFORE they leave you stranded. See Kent's clever way to repair them rather than replace. Applies to 220D, 240D, 300D, 300CD, 300TD, 300SD, 300SDL, 190D and 350SDL.

  • nah just wrap plastic packing tape around them... just kidding

  • @MercedesDieselGuy I'll probably do a similar repair when it comes time, I suspect the OEM replacement parts are rather expensive!

  • Were are the pump lines located Kent?

  • i'm doing this right now!

  • Another great video. Thanks Kent!

  • Great :-)

  • Oddly enough, I accidentally broke one of my hard plastic lines a few years back, and made the repair with 5/16" rubber fuel injection hose. Much like you, I decided to leave it in place permanently when I saw how well it worked as a repair.

  • excellent advice, performing asap on my '74 240 d...... readying for road trip....

also, i found the little rubber connector from fuel tank to metal line was ready to crack away to....

  • With proper maintenance, I'm sure anything can last forever, even diesel.
