On the Indonesian island of Lombok, courtship is a highly ritualised, but dangerous game.

For centuries, young men have upheld the tradition to kidnap their fiancées. But if the girl's relatives find out, they are culturally obliged to fight to get her back.

  • Is it just me or are there 2 different audios playing at the same time?

  • In to-day context, as the "kidnap ritual" always happen on a MUTUAL CONSENT, the use of kidnap in the title may no longer appropriate.

I believe english is a rich language in describing such an event without having to convey a mislead information. Using 'elopement' instead of 'kidnaping' will convey a crystal clear idea without slightest ambiguity in this very case.

  • 10:38 "Bangak sekali" = so stupid. lol it's sasak language.

  • I like Indonesia's culture. But in the other hand, this kind of ceremony spends too much money. Indonesian always has money for traditional ceremony, even the poor.

  • The are definitely 2 audios playing at the same time!!

  • @EBOWARRIOR me too! WTF?
