carolla doesn't understand sacrifice for anything other than himself. Sure he'll work hard but at the end of the day it's all for his own personal glory and gratification. I wouldn't expect someone as narcassistic as he to understand taking a stand against tyranny. In adam's world gandhi is a fool because he didn't work hard and make a lot of money. All he understands is profit and now he's bitter that no one cares that he's busted his ass for his own personal gain. pitiful

@halofable574 Thanks.

@fantom58 ok then, see why there needs to be both sides of the argument, so thank you, I learned something. I understand better now.

@halofable574 There's a dialectic at work. "Free market" capitalism is dying of its own internal contradictions. That's why it can no longer create good jobs, and often relies on "cronying up" to the government to survive. It's decline accounts for the "new normal" of high unemployment. It's also accounts for skyrocketing health care and college tuition costs. We are moving slowly but inexorably towards a publicly-owned economy. It's as inevitable as sunrise.

Also, as to why the economy is messed up, there is the obvious reason i.e. the collapse of the housing market because people brought houses they couldn't afford, but also some of these college majors out there. What are you going to do with something like "Gender studies" or "Art history"? Someone gets a major that is so far academic that it has no real world skills, and then claim its not fair that there are no jobs for them after college? What did they expect?

@fantom58 only time will tell, but also thats just capitalism. That provides incentive, the harder you work, the more you accomplish the more money you get. It inspires them to do better, that doesn't always work but I am just trying to make sure both sides of the argument are present on this video. I get there are trust fund babies out there.

@halofable574 Maybe not. But OWS performed at least one useful service. It raised the consiousness of the bottom 99 percent, many of whom were not aware of rampant income inequality, or just the amount of damage the "banksters" did to the US economy. So OWS sowed the seeds of real (perhaps revolutionary) change down the road.
This guy is telling it how it is. I'm lower middle class but i'm not jelous or envious of the top 1%. They worked hard to get where they are. They built their empires, or their predecessors did and they inherited it based upon either their skill or their liniage. Just because you didn't have a great idea or didn't work as hard why should they be forced to pay more then you? What happened to equality? Maybe if you worked harder you would have more. Quit bitching and get out there and work for it!
