Hopefully this is seen as an improvement on earlier attempts at this clip. This performance was at the Cincinnati Pop Festival, at Crosley Field (the old Reds stadium). Highlights of the festival were later broadcast as "Midsummer Rock."

  • Traffic was AFTER Alice Cooper. Damnation was much earlier than 11:15pm. The sun was still shining when they were on. When they ripped into their cover of "You Got Me Floatin'" , it was still early in the day. Just sayin' Lumpy...

  • @squidlycarmichael Gotcha, Mon. I did mention the possible shuffling, but also didn't want to assume that the sequence on the "Midsummer Rock" video was accurate.

  • Do you have a list of the groups that performed at Crosley Field that day? I was there and have lost the posting that I had from then.

    Thanks!

  • @mom5ds Finally got the info on this! There may have been some shuffling of this lineup: Mighty Quick 10:30 am, Zephyr 11:10 am, Bloodrock 11:55 am, Ten Years After 12:40 pm, Grand Funk 1:55 pm, Mountain 3:10 pm, Savage Grace 4:25 pm, Bob Seger System 5:10 pm, Mott The Hoople 6:00 pm, Iggy & The Stooges 6:50 pm, Cradle 7:35 pm, Traffic 8:25 pm, Alice Cooper 9:40 pm, Sky 10:30 pm, & Damnation of Adam Blessing 11:15 pm. A local band called John Drake's Shakedown was also somewhere in there.

  • @lumpytwangage Wow..what a lineup and event especially with Mott - at that point in time they had Mick Ralphs and were doing their country thing as in their Wildlife LP. Not sure if Tommy Bolin was with Zephyr at this point though he did play on the 1971 LP Going Back to Co.

  • @revup67 Bolin was in the band at this point and also played on Zephyr's s/t album from 1969.

  • Also I sort of remember seeing Grand Funk, Paul Butterfield, Vanilla Fudge at a concert at the Cincinnati Zoo. Anyone else?

  • I was there a 17 year varmit in bellbottom jeans as well. My memories, of course are a little vague. I was excited to see this actual footage to verify that there was a concert.I would love to see the original footage in it's original format. If anyone knows how to get a hold of it I would appreciate it.

  • I was there....a 17yr old long hair varmint in bellbottom blue jeans. It was a blast

  • I remember from those days when Mountain was referred to disparagingly as "the poor man's Cream."

  • @305bigdad ...by chance, was the blonde named...Ruby Starr??

  • Ah, Felix...

  • I was in front of the stage taking pictures for a newspaper. During Mott the Hoople's set Ian Hunter pushed over his keyboard fight in front of me and the keys had blood on them. Also, he tried to kick me (playfully?) when he saw my camera (Iggy hit the lens with peanut butter later on). Regarding the lineup, I remember seeing the Pleasure Seekers with the Quatro sisters and brother Mike (the promoter) in the Mike Quatro Jam Band.

  • Does anyone have any memories of Mott The Hoople from that same day? Thanks!
