Sister of Notre Dame de Namur Dorothy Stang, moved to the Amazon 26 years ago to help poor farmers build independent futures for their families. She was shot to death, Saturday, February 12, 2005, in Anapu, Para, a section of Brazil's Amazon rain forest.
Sister Dorothy was a member of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, an international religious order of about 1600 women in five continents. Each Sister of Notre Dame de Namur commits her one and only life to work with others to create justice and peace for all.

Terrible. Sister Dorothy came to my school and talked to us about her work and what we could do to help others.She was a nice sweet old women who just wanted to help and she was so happy about her work.. They thought she was a devil for helping the peasent people in the amazon? She was an angel
and its a terrible thing that happened and it never should have happened.
