  • how many games for the 3DO weren't point and click adventures or crapy flying games?

  • A valid question. As those were dominant genres for PC at the time, many were made by American or European developers, and the fact that 3DO wasn't superb at fast fully rendered 3D games; 3DO had a large number of both. There weren't very many 'action' or fast paced games on the system which is another reason it had trouble grabbing people's attention from the sprite based 16 bit consoles, and later from the more powerful 32/64 bit 3D systems. It fell into a middle road and suffered. -Ron

  • "need for speed" was one of the few games i played for 3DO.

  • Need For Speed and Road Rash really stood out on the system. -Ron

  • is the viewing area larger than the pc version of myst? for some reason I remember playing it on a pc and being stuck with a small grainy screen, this version looks much better

  • 3DO had a maximum 480X640 video resolution which was pretty impressive for the time. I never played the PC version so I can't say for sure which is better, but the 3DO one did look good. -Ron

  • daytona usa >>>> ridge racer

    :)

  • it would be nice to see Road and Track & EA get back together to make a Need for speed game. but since EA have so many resources I doubt this will happen.

  • the system was capable of running very good ,sometimes near perfect arcade ports for example super street fighter & dragons Lair but unfortunatly these were few & far between ,IMO it was let down by little third party support & the price, $699! More games on the system like the "fun" & very well presented "samuri shodown" & the addition of a more user friendy joypad it could have become somthing as good as the neogeocd .a perfect example of "its the games that dictate the success" not hardware,

  • 640x480 if you want to get technical...

  • wow, i guess that makes 3DO a very expensive transitional machine. a $700 bridge/gateway.

  • yeah, road rash was another game i played. if my memory serves me correctly, the guy that brought it over to my place in 1996 had five games with him. i'm really trying to remember the other three!
