wow a dozen people over a century. i dunno what number that is for snake deaths in Australia but that's pretty amazing even if it is the only venomous snake you have.

Another good video. You are right, Adders can kill but very rarely. The last one I know of was indeed 1976 when a 5 year old boy died of a bite in Scotland, I think Anaphalactic shock and his young age were probably the reason. My only query is what Adders eat, in my experience they never touch amphibians, mainly lizards and small rodents. Oh and don't think I didn't notice that two Adders were used in making this video. The other being a larger male!! Lol

quite slender head and body compared to our North American pit vipers.

If you get bit be sure to drink plenty of water to flush out your kidneys.Drink so much and so often you have to keep pissing every few minutes. Viper venom is bad on the kidneys.

@irelandcool1 Heya, thanks for watching and commenting. I used to work at a zoo and therefore I got a fairly good grounding in working with exotic reptiles. It can be hard to get into but that would be the best way in I reckon. As far as knowledge goes, just visit your local library. I'm not an expert, but I think I know a little about most major species and this was mainly gained through my time at the Zoo.
Good luck and let me know how you get on,
Ben

its actually ten in the last century to be precise (thats what all the sites said which i looked at) i apologise since previoulsy i had only looked at one site about adder related deaths therefore it wasnt reliable enough to be factual. i live in south west midlands and i was wondering if slow worms were populated in this area, also as you know its very hot here recently so i wanted to know where i could find them.

@TomatoKetchup5724 I'm just going on Mark O'shea for the figures, but anyway, I'm sure there are a few varying ones out there. South West Midlands, where? I'm in Shropshire. The Wyre forest near kidderminster is a great place for slow worms, vivip lizards and adders. You need to check with your local wildlife trust as to local heathland, that will be your best bet. You can find info from them on the web. Ben

there are no reports of deaths related to an adder bite (look it up) get your facts right before you pretend to be austin stevens

@TomatoKetchup5724 Hiya mate. Thanks for commenting. Firstly, I have worked with Mr Stevens and do not consider him to be very reputable at all - so we agree on that one! Secondly please do read the facts yourself before being rude. There are 12 deaths attributed to adders in this country in the last century. I believe the last was 1976. All 12 people died from anaphalactic shock - a similar reaction one may get to a bee sting. Please have a look at my most recent adder vid if you'd like to? Ben
