  • Hey thanks for this. I have been trying to get your hill highlight effect down with a knife and it's a nightmare. Seems to always end up a mush of mixed colours. When you do those hill highlights do you press down with the knife or do you hover slightly above the canvas? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • You mean the mountain highlights? Check out my other videos. I have one that covers mountain highlights. I've got to run right now but I will be back on here later and post an explanation on how to do it.

  • First thing I need to know, what kind of tools and paints are you working with?

  • Yes, I checked out the other video yesterday. No joy. I can tell you that I'm using oil paints stright onto primed oil painting paper. As far as I can tell I'm doing everything you've said but it just doesn't work for me. I think I may make a video response so you can see for yourself.

  • What brand of oils are you using? From my experience, Alexander, Bob Ross and Winton are the only brands of oil paints that are thick enough to allow this technique to work correctly. Most other oils are going to be way too thin and will frustrate you.

  • yazan28, hopefully you still have access to the right paints and brushes. Keep checking me out. I'll have more videos in the future.

  • u paint really good, thank u for this vid i learn alot, ll try it !

  • Nice painting, but ain't the cottage a bit out of proportion? Looks more like the size of a doghouse 2 me, especially with the big tree on the right that seems even further away then the cottage. Love the colors though.

  • Beautiful Painting!! I have watched everything on here.

You have a great eye for art....Thanks for posting all these great instructions.SAS

  • u have talent my friend...

  • I really enjoyed watching this. The sky started out looking garish but when you added the clouds and then the land; the sky settled back and now unifies & supports this beautiful painting.

    Keep 'em comming.

  • love your techniques.

    keep the videos coming.
