I Seesaw Her Again: Joe

We bolted out of the car, running towards the rest of the cast members. I was greeted with tons of Hey Joe's and How was the tour? and all that stuff. I saw lots of people from the cast of the first Camp Rock, but one person was missing: Demi.

"Hey dude, have you seen Selena?" Nick asked me. Nick had been ditching us to hang out with Selena lately but I can't really blame him. Being in love does things to you. Psh. Like I would know.
"No." I sighed. "What about Demi?"
"No. I bet they're together though." he suggested. "Let's go find them." I nodded and followed him as we went through the crowd with lots of "Excuse me's" and "Nice to see you again. We'll have to catch up's."

We walked around the lake and I spotted Demi and Selena goofing around at the playground. Demi was running under the tunnel with Selena not close behind. Even though we were about 20 feet away, I could still hear Demi's laugh. It started out as a giggle and burst out crisp and clear.
"Her laugh is adorable." I said to Nick, only to find that he had already left and had caught Selena from behind while Demi and I stood there awkwardly watching. He's so lucky he has somebody.
"Hey Joe!" Demi said holding her hand up for a high five. I gave her a hug instead and beamed. There was a ring on her hand and I couldn't help but wonder where she got it. Or if somebody had given it to her.
"Hey Demi! It's been a long time hasn't it?" I said gazing at her hand. It was a purple music note.
Yeah... she said as we stood there through an incredibly awkward silence.
"Awkward turtle!" She shouted laying her hands on top of each other, moving her thumbs.
"What the?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Oh, you know. The awkward turtle. When something is really awkward you break the awkwardness with the awkward turtle!" She laughed.
"Wow." I laughed at her.
"Sorry. That was really lame. And I'm really hyper and probably babbling. I should stop shouldn't I?" she rambled. I just laughed some more and gave her another squeeze.
"It's nice to see you too Demi. Or should I say Mitchie?" I said pretending to get into character.
"Hey guys!" Selena waved as she walked over to us. "Nick and I are going to go kayaking if that's ok." she said looking to Demi.
"Sureeeeeee." Demi beamed. Her smile was so cute. I nodded at Nick. We all knew they were a couple, but they were too shy to admit it. He grabbed her hand and they walked up the trail. I watched them until the tree line covered them and I couldn't see them anymore.
"So..." I began.
"So..." she followed, laughing.
"How's life?" I asked stupidly.
"Hmm..." She pretended to ponder the though. "Life's good. Busy, but good. How about you? How's life?"
"Good. Busy. You know." I said. She looked at the ground. Why was it so hard to talk to her? Had we really drifted that much? I tried to make the situation less awkward.
"Hey! Look!" I said running over to the seesaw. I jumped onto the middle of the teeter totter and tried to balance on it. "I'm surfing!" I yelled over to her. She shook her head and laughed as she walked over.
"Good old Joe. You haven't changed a bit have you?" she asked.
"Nope. I guess not." I said pretending to pose in a super hero position with my hands on my hips.
"Joe, you are soooo not Superman." she laughed at me, pushing down on the seesaw, causing me to lose my balance. I jumped off right, almost doing a face plant into the ground.
"That was just cruel, Demetria." I scolded.
"I know. I'm sorry. I just couldn't resist." She giggled, giving me an innocent look. How could I not forgive her when she has that face on?!
"You're forgiven." I said giving her yet another hug. BEEP!
"Hold on give me a sec." She said getting out her Blackberry. I watched her fingers skillfully text whoever the caller was back. She must have seen me watching because she responded. "It's just Selena. She wants to know if you want to hang out with her, Nick, Kevin, and I tonight. Like a big reunion."
"Yeah totally." I said, trying not to sound too desperate.
"Cool. Well I gotta go. I have to start unpacking." she said running off. All I could do was stand there and watch her go.
