  • Get a 2jz-gte. More power and torque straight up. Stronger engine all round, better reliabilaty, and none of those pesky head gasket issues that the 7M is famous for.

Why not spend on a better engine and spend less on making power. If you did this in Ausralia you'd get looked at funny.

  • In Down Under things are way easier than in Germany.

We have many technical inspections (one every two years) and it`s a big problem, to get an engine like a 2JZ into an MK3 without having problems with the law.

I personally know two people who did that swap with many many problems.

And an 500hp 7m-gte is way less expensive than a 2JZ swap. The used 2JZ alone, without any mods, would be around the price a tuned, new build 7m is.

  • In live it sounds more like a Audi 5 Cylinder, not bad at all but 6 in-line are just better.

New engine will be mounted soon: 7m-gte, JE-pistons, eagle rods, sp61gt, spearco ic and so on..

  • 7m forever, no need for 1j or 2j. A well maintain 7m will last u for a good while..

Mines is set a 16psi and been like that for years

  • I will try to save your money here:

In my 7m i blew 3 head gaskets, 2 set of forged pistons at 23psi out of a T70 with meth.

2jz has kept strong stock longer than i had the 7m. I regret not putting a 2jz before.

  • i have run 16psi and run a usual 8 - 12 psi for normall driving on my 7m-gte and I have no issues. Stock internals and such. Though im not making huge power its enough for me to have with. I did a rebuild with her and she's great now. Does the quarter in the low 13's or late 12's. Which is good for me, its just a cruising car. Im an Aussie btw.

OH I agree. I was more making the point that if you have the money it's the best way to go but we can't alll afford that. Inearly ended up putting a 1jz into my FC RX7 but in hindsight I guees I stayed with tradition and I had the money to do it.

I will admit that I often wish I had just gone nut's and had a 2JZ fitted.

    Now that would be fun.

  • A 1jz-gte is cheaper and is good too =D.

  • what kind of supra is that?

  • you should probably not just research things just for fun then think you know alot about them, cause th 7m also has forged internals, other wise 10 psi of boost would be a bigggggg no no, i work on toyotas everyday, so dont try and tell me im wrong

  • I agree that 2jz is a stronger engine, cause of the forged internals. But as far as the headgasket on the 7mgte if you replace it correctly (machined head, metal headgasket, arp headbolts) than its pretty much a permanent fix. And i love the 7mgte :)

  • which plug form the vpc is it by the way?
