  • @QFS08 A7sant ya akhee!! A7sant!!

  • Nope that is not 'the' truth. That is not even 'A' truth. MORE people are alive today (6.7 Billion) than have EVER lived TOTAL, in history. Overwhelmingly the life span has more than doubled in the last, two hundred years. There is a middle class that NEVER existed before. MORE wealth is distributed more evenly (although not evenly) than ever before in history. THESE are FACTS. Do the research. Site sources if you are going to make statements that are contrary to the evidence.

  • The holistic context itself shows the stark reality . Yes, people are living longer due to medical progress, yes scientific progress has enabled cures for certain diseases (while modern life has given rise to more!). However, in context it is the proportions which matter. Human population has increased over time but human welfare has not been proportional but rather lagged and the gap between the rich and poor and general injustice has hence increased. This is a the point and this is the truth.

  • This website, provides facts but without context. Historical context. Is this the first time we have faced this issue? Is this the first time in history we have decided the status quo (for example women's rights) IS an issue? My point stands. More people are living, longer, better educated and more fulfilling lives, with economic ability like no other time in history. The website you liked cannot refute this, simple fact. And my original point.

  • I beg to differ. If you are talking about facts then this is where you are certainly whether you prefer to admit it or not. Please google: 'globalissues'

  • I continue to disagree. 30-50% of the wealth in the hands of 1% of the population is standard throught history. 1st C Rome, it was 0.1% in the pre-depression America 0.1%. When in time was the wealth distributed differently? In the 21st C what we have is more people living LONGER, HEALTHIER better FED and EDUCATED lives. (Literacy has changed through time usually due to gov't intervention, not access) This is evidence of progress, not regression. The facts don't support your conclusions.

  • More people living comfortably than anytime before is irrelevant. What matters is the proportions of rich versus poor and the wealth inequality. The 20 richest people in the world own more than the wealth of the 41 poorest countries. Our intellectual evolution and awakening are real, yes I agree. But it is the practise not the theory and debate which has not been implemented. Awakening of masses on one hand and the persistence of injustice in the world are precursors to global revolt to come.

  • I must disagree. Evidence suggests more people live comfortably than any other period in history. The number of people that live in the expendable class is lower than ever. Ethically the world lives in a period of open debate about ethics. We have a world body that agrees on fundamental values. (Difficult to enforce) Warfare has is becoming a matter of OPEN debate within the populace, for the first time in history. The rise in natural disasters is debatable.

  • You and I live in relative peace here in the West. But the general condition of humanity is stark. Poverty: at least 80% of humanity lives on less than $10 p/day. Ethics: Per year (for 2008) Nations spend over $1400 on products from cosmetics to alcohol to arms, while all nutritional, healthcare, education and poverty problems require a mere $40 billion per year solve. Conflict: rise of conflict and terrorism in the world. Environment: destruction of our climate and rise in natural disasters.
