It was in 1983 when I read in DER SPIEGEL (German weekly news magazine) about AIDS for the first time. I was still at school back then, 18 years of age. I came late for my PE class that afternoon, as I first had to finish reading the in depth articles that dealt with the topic.
Coming out some two years before had been tough - and now they reported about the "Gay Disease" that had turned up. I was devastated.
It turned out it's not a gay exclusive disease. So what; I'm still devastated.

It's definately not a "gay" disease. It's important for everybody to protect themselves.
