This is a doodlebug tractor that was at the 2008 S.C.R.A.P. Show in Gibsonburg, Ohio. It has an ingenious hoist for the loader that uses the rear drive axle from a car. The pinion shaft is coupled to the crankshaft at the front of the engine. One side of the axle has the hoist drum on it. When the hoist is in neutral, the brake drum opposite the hoist drum will spin. When the hoist is engaged, the brake is applied to the spinning drum. This causes the hoist drum to start turning through the spider gears. When the loader is hoisted up, the brake is applied on the hoist drum to hold it and the brake on the opposite drum is released and it spins free. A very clever setup using the differential.
