@ihamoitc2005 hyperextension is an interesting topic but the icc is very clear in stating that the law only governs normal extension of the elbow joint, not hyperextension, abduction or adduction.
@bvindh, they didn't have youtube back then, did they? You watch it once and never see it again. Now we can scrutinize these players over and over and over.
Check out the youtube video showing the speed test (not the competition) of lillee and thomson. Both have elbow angles (in their case, probably due to hyperextension rather than actual throwing) that exceed 20 degrees. The angle is easy to calculate because the video is shot in front of a wall with a matrix pattern.
As an Indian, I was disappointed by Bedi's sniping comments about Murali's action.
Bedi probably had the best action amongst all spinners, but he was a bitter man post retirement. [not forgetting his jealousy of Gavaskar when they played together!].
In an Indian program called 'Match ka mujrim'- essentially a post mortem analsysis of games, he used to criticise every bowler mercilessly and none of them were constructive.
Murali, Warney and Chandra were the 3 best spinners I have seen in 40 yrs.
The irony in all of this is that Bedi himself was a clear chucker. Simply pause the video when his arm is vertical (just before release) and you'll see that the forearm is perpendicular to the ground but the upper arm (shoulder to elbow) is not. Looks like a 10-12 degree angle.
@MangoJones Yes everyone...mangojones is the expert in the field of hyperextension of the arm....all the professors at the university where the tests were conducted...all the ICC representatives who monitored him....all the techonology.....it was all nonsense because mangojones knows better than everyone.
@MangoJones jealous much? I suppose with an IQ of 10 you can't understand science. Ask someone you know who can read english and can explain to you that the test was measured quality wise. Both spin and pace of the ball. Once you read it come back because at the moment people here are wiping their ass off of you.
@MangoJones yeah then all bowlers are culprits, why single out murali. Your argument is mute as it is stupid. If he bends during the matches then how come in the ICC champions trophy McGrath, Harbajan and Lee recorded more degrees than murali. It was a double blinded test. Need a tissue? stop crying.
When he's at a university he can just concentrate all his efforts on not straightening his arm (although even then he straightened it 15 degrees, a huge amount)...
When he's on the field, he bends his arm heaps more, to get the maximum spin. Try it in real life some time, the more you chuck the more off spin you can get.

Don't bother telling truth to Lankans!
A Lankan YTer once argued that Sri Lanka is the next super power in making.....if it isn't already!!

Sir, you are a genius. You noticed something absolutely nobody noticed throughout Bishen's career.
