When I was a fundamentalist, they could never explain the keys of the kingdom very well, only that they were sure it didnt mean what it said. And the Catholics were wrong for believing it literally.

Yes in Daniel's prophetic message, the end time prophecy revealing the image of a great statue, the last empire consisting of 10 remaining kingdoms of the earth represented by the 10 toes, and the Rock unhewed by hands repesented Christ that breaks the statue into pieces, just like when they put the ark of the covenant with the false god statue it fell down, yes He Christ is that Rock, not Peter. Peter was an apostle for the circumcised (Jews) and Paul came for the uncircumcized (Gentiles).
