Great design :0)
May i ask why the firetube is mounted in a barrel if you have the gas outlet in the bottom?
Also how much heat exchange does the original gasifier provide, when the gas is led up around the firetube? How much filtering can one expected from the old design? Is it necessary to lead the gases the whole way to the top of the gasifier in order to seperate out particulates? It would be much easier to just use an isolated firetube, thus saving loads of space..

So with this design it goes straight from the bottom to the cyclone? There is no outer wall? Where does the air come in at?

Do you have a drawing of this unit? It looks like there is an ash clean out on the bottom and a port for the gas to go out up higher. Do you think that the ashes will suck up into the gas port?

The 2 stage secondary cyclone performs the job of an an outer wall, only in a much smaller and cost effective package.

Have you thought of adding 2 springs to those guide rods, So the grate returns on its own, It would be a nice touch !
Is this in your DVD if not can you add it.

Cool idea. It sounds like a pin ball plunger. I do feature the construction of the simple grate in the new Woody plan set coming out soon. No springs though, sorry:(
I made it easily removable. The one in this video is welded in.
Thanks for watching.
