On the 50 meter fundive in chamber, we did not get the masks.
The 60 meter dive needed more deco, hence the masks.
Also for me, being a CCR diver, it was interesting to breathe pure O2 at 12 meters.

60 meters? Whats the purpose of going so deep? Sounds interesting

Thanks for the reply. It makes sense that they use masks instead of filling the whole chamber. But nevertheless, isn't it unusual? When you make a fundive in a chamber, there's plenty of air and time, so there is no urge for shorter deco stops. On the other hand, you can reduce boring time and try out the masks which must be nice, so one could wonder why they don't provide oxygen masks on all fundives in hyperbaric chambers.

at 2:03 you can see the dive profile and the deco stops.
the 9m and the 6m deco stops made with 100% oxygen and instead of filling the whole chamber with oxygen, they just breath through masks O2.

Why did you have to wear those masks? Seems to be unusual for a chamber dive...
The reasons for going so deep, is to experience nitrogen narcosis. Have been to 50 m before, but the extra 10 gave an extra buzz ;-)
The reason for the masks, was that we dived a predefined tabel (Navy 12) which uses O2 on deco. Also the crew is very careful of high O2 in the tank itself as this is a fire hazard.
BTW, got to breathe O2 at 12 meters for some minutes. There is a real risk of seizures at ppO 2.2 bar, but it went OK.
Will keep above 6 meters on my CCR though in water though!
