You have the Queen of Soul, The Queen of Hip-Hop, The Queen of R&B and then theres Avis, The Queen of Versatility! Were going to give you a peek into some of Avis Harrells performances and share the reason this artist can wear the crown. She performed at The Fantasia in The Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles California a few years ago and the audience was in love at first sight. Aside from the various styles of music she does, Avis also has extended her writing skills and dedicated her newest release to our troops fighting abroad titled, I'll Be Here When You Return which is sold at www.Cdbaby.com/cd/avis2. She actually opened the ANSWER March last year to bring the troops home with Congress Woman Cynthia McKinney and Ron "Born In The U.S.A. Kovack. To her, this is what being versatile is really about, taking a platform and contributing to the good of mankind to stop the war. The year before, she wrote, arranged and produced her own album, titled Self Contained which was a mix of R&B, Jazz, Latin, Blues and Hip-Hop also sold at www.Cdbaby.com/cd/avis. Along with her personal desire to extend herself with singing as many styles as possible, Avis pushes the envelope.

Shes been performing a lot longer than most of the popular singers today due to starting as a very young child and has earned the title, Queen of Versatility earnestly because she is not as the saying goes "A One Trick Pony". Avis is very talented. She sings well, dances well, acts well, has great stage presence and is truly a creative artist. The only thing lacking in this artist is the exposure that many artists have gained through the media. That is why we are letting you know that this "Queen of Versatility" is that in her own right. After winning the crown of Miss America, D.C. in the past, Avis says the only one she is in competition with is herself and to encourage others that you can be who you want to be in life if you so desire and dare to dream.

She performs regularly at various venues in Los Angeles and around the world and has been able to make her own dreams come true. Fresh off of tour with Wayne Newton, she is seen here with a band she formed out of Berkley University that she called The Four-Man Big Band. With only a rhythm section, she and this group performed everything from R&B, Pop, Jazz, Country, Standards, Rock to Dance music. This song, "One Night Only" was taken from the musical Dream Girls and was inspired by the original vivacious vocals of Jennifer Holiday. The musicians performing with Ms. A. in this video are; on Drums - Dan "Zorro" Donnally, Piano -Nick Manson; Bass Osama Afifi and Saxophone, Andy Souzuki.
