Arts pundit Michael Ignatieff presents a show on BBC2 about the three minute culture. Ironically I only have three minutes of it on tape. It must have made me lose my attention span and switch over.

This show has the most hideous eighties theme tune you'll ever hear.

He said "people in the states change channels every three minutes". He did not say that he was an American. You are putting a spin on what he said. That is not fair of you.

@irishgodfatherchris and much to people's surprise 10 months is not the shortest time an MP has gone from being Opposition Leader to PM, Robert Hawke was Opposition Leader for 25 days before winning the 1983 election when just hours before Malcolm Fraser called the election, then Opposition Leader William Hayden resigned and Fraser's planning went out the window as his campaign relied on Billy Hayden being his opponent

@paulfornasier we didn't expect him to lose his seat no, but what had happened was the Kevin Rudd had only been the Opposition Leader for about 10 months and the Liberal Party had tried to muckrake him by saying that about 5 years ago he went to the US and got so drunk that he ended up going to a strip joint and got handcuffed to a pole or something and it just blew up in their faces they actually lost more seats than what was projected, we new they would lose we didn't they lose by that much

@irishgodfatherchris Wasn't there some kind of controversy that happened around that whole election?..or was it a suprise that he lost or something? I remember that I was watching economic news quite closely at the time, as I had investments I was managing...

@irishgodfatherchris Good to hear that you're getting some postive change there. I remember the change when Howard was given the boot. We actually paid about $30 billion in interest cost payments on our debt in 2008/09. That was significant...and now we are looking to add 50% to that. Interest rates are down now..buy they likely won't be for long. Concern about inflation is pushing them up...and we will get in real trouble if they go up significantly...as we will be deep into record debt...

@paulfornasier currently here in Australia, we have a minority Labor Govt. who are making a clear effort to bring us back into surplus after PM Howard left us with a really bad economy, we are know projected under Treasurer Swann to be in surplus before the next election which is in 2013 (we have elections every 3 years federally and every 4 years in each state and territory). The fact that the right misleads the public every time just sickens me, that one of the reasons why I belong to the left

@irishgodfatherchris Here's some good info I discovered.. On an annual basis, the cost of personal tax cuts, cuts to the Goods and Services tax, and cuts to corporate taxes is slated to cost us over $40 billion in lost revenue on an annual basis by 2012/13. That will be far beyond the projected deficit. This is the extent of information manipulation and fraud of the working and middle classes that we are getting from this Conservative govt. Most people are too uneducated to figure it out..
