Now that the Trovatore contest is in full swing, I thought I would post some of the soprano's in the act IV cabaletta to this scene. Yes, this is often cut from live performance so there aren't too many videos. But here are a few.

  • I don't know about anyone else, but that concluding high note was absolutely ELECTRIFYING to me. Unbelievable. If a soprano of ANY age could sing as well it would shock me.

  • WOW! Be it late or early in here career, for me this rocked! As lareto said, that last high note...unbelievable.

  • WHY was she so PERFECT????

Look at her technique...she isn't strained AT ALL! What a voice.

  • At that stage in her career to sing like that...unbelievable! She was the best of the best!

  • Sutherland had the voice of the century. Absolutely incomparable. There will never be another like her. Thank God for all the recordings!

  • no one on Gods Green (Verdi??) Earth had the PERFECTION (within Human ability of course) of this PARAGON of ACCURACY. As a pianist, i really appreciate the ACCURACY and the ANCHORED supported sound of this beautiful creature!! i say 'creature" because really, she has the physique of a Super-Woman! i just cant believe how much i love her.

  • Sometimes she makes me mad. So mad.. Why did she have to be so damn impeccable in her singing??

  • It's a pity that Dame Joan didn't sing more Verdi--especially early Verdi. Her dramatic coloratura would have been wonderful in Nabucco, Attila, I Lombardi, I Due Foscari, I Masnadieri, etc. Of course, a very strict conductor would have been ideal too.

  • @Hako2004 Buy a good dictionary.

  • @yglofmi

The word is nonexistent.......you know, like your mind.

  • fabulosa que dios la tengo en la gloria una de mis favoritas divas soprano

  • Beautiful, thank you!!!
