Yeah, tobacco's good, but I really do prefer something with a bit more 'kick' to help me mellow out

Will it eventually burn all the way through the bowl?

After I make mine could I possibly shellack the outside of it as long as I don't touch the bowl or mouthpiece and also what woods are toxic that i should stay away from, I live in rhode island and we have alot of forest and trees If I took a branch from any old tree would I be good?

@HandsomeSasquatch Pines including yew, Apple wood, Cherry and others are very toxic... Stick with soft non toxic woods like tulip or sassafras.

@MAD9711 my recommendation is Ash.

Hi, I was wondering if there is any precautions to choosing wood for whittling to make pipes, spoons, etc. I know that some woods are considered toxic but I'm not sure if this means I need to learn to identify all different types of trees for safety reasons before I start learning bushcraft. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
