Restrictions on Free Speech - Alderman Robert Fioretti talks with OWS

Fioretti ". . . What's the issue?"

OWS "We want to know if free speech should be a 24 hour right."

Fioretti "I don't know what that means because, it's you know, it's restricted. You know that better than I do."

He continues. . .

"But, so, what do we talk about (Hard to hear at this point but I believe he says. . . ) and why do you guys (feel or look?) so. You know what, I was there yesterday. Nobody said anything to me yesterday, right. What time were we there yesterday?"

Aid "He was there yesterday I have pictures of him"

Fioretti "We were all there yesterday, nobody said anything to me yesterday, so, what's the issue folks?"

OWS "We were invited" -Which is true.

Fioretti "What?"

OWS "(Can't make out the name of who invited us down, apologies) invited us down for open office hours."

Fioretti "Okay so what's the issue?" -Fairly sure we already made this clear.

OWS "Our question to you is, at what time do you think the curfew on free speech rights should begin in the 2nd ward?" -He is the alderman of said ward.

Fioretti "Well, I don't know about that but my question is because I"

OWS "Will you answer the question?"

Fioretti "I will answer the question."

OWS "What time should the curfew on free speech rights begin?"

Fioretti "I think at 11:30" -He then goes on to ask what does the park district say.

I believe it should be noted that an Alderman isn't a fair person to ask these questions to because he does not have the power to overturn state vs federal laws, like park closures that restrict people's constitutional rights.

What should be noted though, is that these politicians cannot and will not be able to solve the problems we have.

We need to stop looking to them for the answers and start talking to each other for the solutions.

Have you been to any of the protests? Talked with anyone there? I have an okay understanding of law, a fantastic understanding of responsibility and accountability. This isn't about free rides, I have NO idea where you got that idea from.

I will agree with you that capitalism and the powers that be want us in debt forever, that is a very true statement my friend.

Free speech at certain times of day,location, and other restrictions. Anyone else notice a problem with even having this discussion. It's not up for debate its always in play everywhere at anytime by anyone.
