MAC OS X - Split n Join Files

http://www.itechster.com MAC OS X - Split n Join Files, can be done in many different ways. Using freeware & non-freeware applications. Now to split files into .RAR format on MAC OS X there are two apps I know of which can do this one is terminal based from http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm called RAROSX not free, or a free option is SimplyRar from http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/21430 please note that this free version is no longer supported. Now those are just a few options if you really need to create .RAR file & split them.

Now let's get to the apps at hand that we will be using, they are as follows.

BetterZip & Split&Concat will allow us to split as well as combine files togehter, while Stuffit Expander will allow us to combine files only that are in parts.

YemuZip will allow us to zip files for both MAC & PC. So check out the tutorial & just follow with me.

YO SEEM LIKE YOU REALLY KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. I NEED SOME HELP. I HAVE A MAC BOOKPRO I USE UTORRENT TO DOWNLOAD NEW MOVIES THAT COME OUT. I PLAY THEM ON A FLASH DRIVE AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN DOWNLOADED. MY QUESTION IS I DOWNLOADED A BLUERAY MOVIE AND I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO SPLIT IT AND AFTER I SPLIT IT HOW DO I GET IT TO PLAY FROM MY FLASHDRIVE WHEN I PUT THE FLASH DRIVE IN MY DVD PLAYER. @JERSEE01 you will need to use tsmuxer to split your blu ray file into chunks to be able to play them. Not all devices may play it so you will need to test the files you have.

smlabs[dot]net/en/products/tsm­uxer is the side that makes the program it self and it's freeware.

@bullboykennels not sure what OS you are running but it does not work on S/L but it does on Tiger as for the regular Leopard that I can not remember cause it's been a long time since I have used it.

i thought mac os x can create zip file without another program, right click then compress... does it make any different with YimuZip??

@ninokiboomcg yumizip has and option to make it windows compatible.

@triplejades yes u can combine the also if they are in rar ..... then select all rar files and right click on it and click extract files

can you combine the files you just split on a PC? Because I'm using this method to transfer a 7gig iso from macosx 10.5.8 to a windows vista business 64.
