This Seth Thomas "Adamantine" clock with black and green marbleized finish uses the No. 89T 8 day time and strike movement. It strikes the hours on two brass bells, and strikes the half hour on the higher pitched bell. It may have been made in 1916 (the date 22 March 1916 is written on the label on the back cover) or it could have been made earlier, perhaps around 1905 - 1913. I have not found any information on when the 89T movement was made.

The case is 18 1/8 inches wide at feet, 11 1/16 inches tall, with 4 1/4 inch time track on dial.

  • Hi!

These ding-dong strikers aren't very common - this is the first one I have had in for repair for a long time.

You are correct about the half-hour strike - a pin on the center arbor raises one hammer and lets it drop at the half-hour.

  • Hi Bill,

Thanks for sharing. Never knew these clocks were also made as Ding-Dong strikers.

The striking on the half hour looks to be just the one lever that is actuated by the (single) strike activation pin?
