SO MUCH LOVE I CAN'T EVEN.

Is he still a baritone???lol he's doing some serious tenor stuff in here!

I think Brian Stokes Mitchell has the most absolute gorgeous voice to ever exist. HOWEVER, this song has absolutely no passion in it and I really don't like the instrumental. It's way too light and happy. This is a very deep song, and I would have liked if Brian played that up a bit. Raul still delivers the best rendition of this song I've ever heard.

What a misguided version. Mitchell is a magnifcent singer and performer but this is downright horrid. The orchestration is so cruise ship.

@bwaygammagurl i blame the arrangement, i think he'd make a brilliant bobby onstage, but this just... isn't giving of a sondheim vibe. I could hear this in a classy psychiatrists office :(

I think that this is a really good performance of Being Alive, but I think it lacks the tragic emotion of this song. I think the upbeat accompaniment is a clue that it's not supposed to have the sad feeling. Anyways, it was brilliant.

OMGOSH! How did I miss that?!?!

Oh my god! that was gorgeous. I've heard it before, but I forgot how amazing it was.

No mtywilli, I love this man's voice. He is indeed a talent for sure. I want to personally meet him. He was just on TBN, singing at the Crystal Cathedral sing a song of the beast in the manger singing to our Lord Jesus Christ, from there he had me at 'Emmanuel".

he's fantastic

He is honestly one of my favorite male singers... Where did he GET a voice like that!? They should make men with voices like this by the masses! On to Ragtime now, anyone? :)

this version just makes me appreciate Raul Esparza all the more for the emotion and intensity he put in this powerful song. I agree that Brian Stokes Mitchell has a nice voice, but I really dislike this interpretation of the song.
