On April 10, 2008, Gov. David Paterson became the green governor.
Standing on the boardwalk of Sunken Meadow State Park with the Long Island Sound behind him, Paterson said the state would not issue the necessary Coastal Consistency Certification permits to approve Broadwater, the controversial liquefied natural gas terminal proposed by Shell Oil and TransCanada.
