Christy Cornelius singing "Mississippi Child" by Rachel Newman.

Born beneath magnolias in a sleepy MS town
Thick-as-molasses summers were sweet and golden brown
Even the dust beneath my feet was cool as eider down
At least, that's how it felt to me, a MS child.

Mississippi Child - What did I know?
I was running wild, as fast as I could go
In the world outside, I've been through so many changes
But in this heart am I a Mississippi Child.

Papaw played piano, the Southern Gospel style
And I would sit beside him to hear the music rise
He had the time to listen and he had the time to tell
His Mississippi stories I still remember well.

In my mind...I been through so many changes
But in my heart...I'm a Mississippi Child!
