Sammie, my Bare Eye Cockatoo, LOVES to bathe in the bathroom sink twice a week. She puts on quite a show, jumping in and out of the water, squealing with delight, and making a HUGE mess!
@tonyahowe789 My Goffin had REALLY bad stains when I got here (She was from a horse stables) and over time the stains completly came out with just water.
@tonyahowe789 Did you ever get the stains off of your cockatoo? I would hesitate to use anything on the stains, as they will preen after a bath and will ingest anything you put on the feathers. With time the stains will go away....just bathe with water. My cockatoos shower with me on a special shower perch!
I own Frostie The Dancing Cockatoo and I gave him a good bath one day for a video shoot. What I did was to put about three inches of warm water in the bathtube with a folded towel in the center. On his tail feathers (white) which were stained, I applied shampoo directly and washed them. But, this is the only reason I have ever used shampoo. You don't want to mess with the natural oils or their skin could dry out and then the would probably start picking at it.
Corellas (in the wild) prefer showers over baths, any chance you could give her a perch in the shower?? If that isn't possible, she has to be the happiest corella I've seen in a long time! Good on ya!
