this kind of guitar playing sounds flat and emotionless to me whereas guys like steve vai can play one note and draw emotion from the deepest place...you got the technique kid just work on loosening up and feel your playing dont just be a robot.....AND IM NOT COMPARING HIM TO STEVE VAI....great playing by the way...

My mistake. I forgot that Jake played on Bark at the Moon. I disagree with EspGuitars. Technically, you SHOULD use your pinky more on solos, but if you can do it without using it and you're comfortable doing it that way, by all means do it. But I think you will find solos easier if you develop your pinky. Playing stretches with the ring finger is find for pentatonic scales, but without the pinky, you'll find more complicated scales much more difficult.

@Branes51 Yeah your right about Randy and classical....but this is Jake E. Lee. Classic west coast guitarist.
Kid, don't let anyone dis your playing. You're good. I was a studio musician in the 70's and I wish I could play like that now. If you really want to master the instrument though. learn jazz and classical also. Classical style is where Randy Rhoads got most of his solo ideas from.
