A landscape of desolation. In the middle of the stage is an abandoned car. It is completely destroyed -- the last refuge of desperation. It is here that Lulu turns tricks as a prostitute. The moon from the first scene has risen. Alwa, sick with venereal disease, Schigolch and Lulu have been reduced to utter poverty -- their only source of income, Lulu's prostitution. Lulu receives the first of 3 clients -- strange evocations of a previous life. The Countess returns with a portrait of Lulu in her glory days. The reminder of who she had been at one point in her life is too much for Lulu to bear. Lulu's second client arrives and kills Alwa. Lulu's third client arrives. She begs him to join her in the abandoned car. As Geschwitz waits outside of the car vowing to start a new life for Women's rights, she hears a scream. Lulu is pressed against the windshield in a vain attempt to escape her murderer. She has been killed by her third client, Jack the Ripper. He buries the knife in Geschwitz as he leaves. The Countess swears everlasting devotion to Lulu and dies.
