Continued from previous comment, Any one who rides MTB isn't good enough or road. Because they are at the same fitness level as a roadie. And honestly I agree with the guy that said it takes more balls to be a downhiller. Plus Lycra is gay

@Cyclingmadman I would love to see any one of your favorite roa riders race Steve Pete on a downhill course. They would have to walk what a downhiller doesn't look twice at. Mountainbikers aren't failed roadies. They enjoy mountainbiking more. I used to ride road. When I started to mountainbike I realized I enjoyed it a lot more. I'm not saying it is better than road, but in my opinion it is a lot more fun. And if you like road more than that's great for you. But don't be saying that any

You people obviously don't mountainbike because you have no idea what you are talking about. Evans might do ok in a cross country race.....maybe. But in anything else such as 4X, downhill, super D, dual slalom, dirt jumping, or any of the other Many types of races he would be destroyed. And he didn't say "MTB sucks I'm gunna ride road" he probably thought "I'm not super good at MTB and I'm way better at road. I'll do road cuz I can win more and make more money"

@Cyclingmadman I find it hard to get worked up about the choice of discipline people make for a sport. But you make a good point; Evans would eat them alive indeed (even though he is an Aussie). I now realise my logic of Evan's not being a failed roadie is slightly back to front.
-
@Cyclingmadman Cadel Evans first rode mountain bikes. I wouldn't class him as a failed roadie.

Could everyone just calm down please? We all ride bicycles at the end of the day no matter what the discipline. Just ride and have fun. So many labels and so much hate, its ALL cycling, embrace it. It amazes me the hate between cyclists just because someone either rides uphill or downhill, on the road or on the dirt.

@Cyclingmadman a road bike has more gears than a downhill bike. both take physical and mental strength. both bikes are expensive. both bikes can be lifted by 1finger. most downhillers wear padding, a road rider wears a helmet. when a downhiller fails a trick and crashes they keep trying till they get it, a roadie falls off and whines like a lil girl. a downhiller wears a jersy, a roadie wears lcrya. but the biggest differnce it takes balls to be a downhiller, it hurts your balls being a roadie
if your filming the tv, you should at least film only the tv!

If you're going to be so fucking disrespectful to the greatest bike race on earth you could at least land the jump.
