My Panasonic AX200u makes this clunking noise, usually on startup and then intermittently thereafter. After a few minutes it shuts down with no warning lights and cannot be restarted without cutting power to the unit. It's not the bulb (I changed it), and the iris still seems to be working fine. Any ideas?

  • It was a broken iris. It was replaced for $300 after shipping and labor, and the projector works great again now.

  • MY WORKS FINE.IM AT 3099 HRS AND SCARD TO BLOW BULB.

  • If there is no input signal, it clicks back an forth with the iris. And it does it at start up as well. once you have an input it should stop.

  • Mine seems to do the same thing except it does not come on. From time to time it may come on but mostly makes the noise as if it were trying but suddenly turns itself off.

  • Watching your video it looks as though your AX200 is doing a similar test but it sounds as though the iris shutter or shutters are making a noise as they open and close. This might be because the shutters are moving more rapidly than normal. I guess it was not always like this.

If one of the iris shutter springs has broken or become dislodged from the iris shutter this may do it i guess.

  • Hi, on start up the panasonic AX 100 does a start up test function with the iris shutters and possibly monitors this somehow or tests it again periodically for function i.e. Does it open fully and close fully, and possible within a certain time frame.
