  • I remember marching to this music at my passing out parade at the Army Apprentices college Chepstow on August 3rd 1984.

To this day I`m proud to have been a Royal Engineer.

    "a muddy old sapper"

  • My Grandad was a Sapper, WW2 POW twice...but he did escape the second time he got caught. The war scarred him for life, died young 63 but he was very proud to be in the Royal Engineers. I wish he had lived long enough to at least have my first pint with him...i had so many questions for him. RIP Sapper Sid Sharratt missed but never forgotton.

  • UBIQUE you muddy old sappers, God bless you one and all.

  • CHIMO!!! from an canadian engineer :)

  • @mollydolly516 And, I believe it to be true that the Corps won the first F.A. Cup Final.

  • @mollydolly516 I would have thought so. If memory serves the march commemorates the fact that the Corps were the first airborne arm of the Armed Forces, to whit the Royal Engineers balloon section in the late Nineteenth Century. What a bloody good Corps! (5Fld; 21 Fld Spt; 31 Armd)

  • Go Royal Engineers! Proud to know one. Keep up the hard work :)

  • @mollydolly516 The Band of the Corps of Royal Engineers played "Wings" for the Coronation of King George VI in 1937 and also at the Kings Funeral in 1953 so the Old Sapper would have Marched to it previously anyway as "Wings" has been the CoREs quick march since 1902.

  • @Stace600gsx One of many records until the Elf & Safety vetoed the heavy lifting check out the Sapper threads on ARRSE.

  • @DonnyMacG, I remember that record at the Sapper Games and some of the 2Sqn lads on the team.

    Hurrah for the CRE

  • @ajb7876 Yeah, 1 Troop 88 Trg Sqn. Then onto Gib ..... "Wall .. Runaround .. Wall .. Runaround" ..... "Get off the shaggin' graaaass!" Happy times.
