A Wild Football Day on Christmas Eve 2000

I don't know what it is about Christmas Eve and the Miami Dolphins, but here we go again: The Dolphins need to beat New England to clinch the AFC East, but played poorly throughout most of the game. Figuring they were going to lose, we left for our Noche Buena party. While in the car, the Dolphins tie the game and eventually kick the go-ahead Field Goal, and following the kickoff, the Patriots run out of time... or so we thought... it turned out that the refs erred and everyone had to come back after 36 minutes for one last play! Since this happened the Patriots went on to win 3 Super Bowls, while the Dolphins started their descent into quicksand following their Divisional Round ousting.

I remember this game. After the Patriots blew it we left to go to my Uncles house. Once we got there, my smartass cousin says excitedly "They put 2 seconds left back on the clock, and Michael Bishop threw a hail mary for a game winning touchdown!" And my father said "No way, shut up." He kept insisting that this happened so we went to the TV and they were replaying it, and then we saw what actually happened. Good prank. These two teams match up again on Christmas eve in Foxboro. I will be there.

Go Dolphins! Huge game this week... A win and The Dolphins can sink the Patriots... who would have thought that at the beginning of the year? :)

Yup! Hopefully by next year, the Dolphins may be playing a crucial game like this in December... Who knows, with 7 games left against the weaker West Division teams, we may have a chance this year! :)
