  • I don't have videos of myself, but I have a tip to improve your strikes. Imagine the bo staff isn't there and think that your fists do the strikes. I can assure you your strikes will look a lot better.

Actually if you check out this video, your hands aren't doing any strikes. You think you're striking because the staff stops moving, but try to keep in mind that your body and arms have to do the work. The bo staff is just a "part" or an "extension" of your body.

Keep up the good work! Greetings

  • @LaurensVRC thanks, yeah, this was a long time ago and no, I was really not doing strikes was I ? :)

I do have other videos where I explored staff strikes both with and without actual targets, check those out and let me know what you think

    thanks!

  • out of breath at the end=p

    nice vid =)

  • absolutely,

that was about my 5th vid in a row that day

and you should get a bit winded after putting power and control into a spinning, striking exercise

    thanks :)

  • i have my own home made heavy bo staff too... i took a metal curtain rod and stuffed it with a kind of heavy hardwood... its tough since i'm a beginner but its great, i love it, becomes much easier after a while and great for strength training. I do a seven point attack combo 4 sets of 11 each. By the end i'm exhausted... heavy staffs make u sweat... i love em. And i suppose it'll be easier to practice a polearm if we practice with a heavy staff.

    Cheers.

  • cool, you should post a reply video, I would love to see your workout routine
