@jgrules84 as long as it doesn't require software to be installed for the external disc drive to work you can, but just a note you can only use it to store and open files and play, burn, and rip music, you can't run any software off of the disc

One question, do you know whether they can play discs using an external disc drive or would that be blocked.

I know you can. Only problem is that the proxy settings I use on the school computers with portable Firefox doesn't work on the new DET laptops. That and flash doesn't work properly.
