'Wild Is the Wind' by Dimitri Tiomkin & Ned Washington, was originally recorded by Johnny Mathis for the eponymous 1957 film. Natasha may have been inspired by David Bowie's 1976 cover (having listed his 'Low' album amongst her top 5 favourites), or prps Nina Simone's mesmerising take, though this sounds like it owes more to Chan Marshall's strikingly spare (arranged only for piano) & equally heart-rending cover. Be that as it may, this was an exceptionally moving performance, which Bat For Lashes typically made all her own.
My apologies to any of you who've been waiting for me to pull my finger out & start uploading my remaining vids from this Bexhill gig. As I explained in the notes to the only such vid I've posted to date (for BFL's rarely-performed piece 'Howl') I was so disappointed with my first attempt to post any vids I'd made using my new cam (not only failing to gain the HD badge, but seeing the resulting vid letterboxed from all sides), that I vowed not to do BFL fans the disservice of posting any more such substandard vids 'til I'd finally got my head round the technical probs that I'd assumed were inherent with posting AVCHD Lite format footage to YouTube. Having failed to convert them to MPEG's or supposedly more compatible formats using Magix Movie Edit Pro 15 Plus, and taken advice from another BFL fan & YouTube friend on using Adobe Media Encoder CS4, I'm finally adopting the simple tactic doubtless deployed by loads of other AVCHD Lite veterans or indeed newbies out there by ignoring the 'YouTube' upload button on the Panasonic PhotoFun HD vid editing software which came with the cam (my previous mistake), and instead just uploading directly from YouTube, having first noted the m2ts file number to select. Fingers crossed it'll do better justice to BFL's performance this time (and will look somewhat more like it does when playing back on my Full HD-enabled pc).
Well, since this does seem to have worked out OK, Ill start posting all my vids to this concert in the order they were performed, except for this one, which I couldnt resist trying to upload first, not least since its probably my next favourite of that magical nights' performances, 2nd only to Howl. But this wasnt my finest effort in capturing any of these on film, not least given my unaccountable loss of control right at the end here when my cam drifts down for a few spaced out secs. Wish I could say this was me being overwhelmed with emotion (like BFL said this song makes her feel), but I suspect in all honesty that my fatigue had more of a hand (I've been a bit under pressure at work lately, even more so after this concert, which hasn't helped with me sorting the uploading prob). But I don't know how anyone could grow tired of listening to this though...
She do way too many covers man.Where is her new cd???

@bluebow23 This was from a one-off gig @ Bexhill in Feb, during the first half of which she performed all her own songs, and then in this second half she did mostly covers of a few of her favourite songs. It's the only time she's performed any of these covers live in concert to my knowledge. As to her 3rd album, she actually started recording it in the studio on 13th September (according to batlovers fan forum), so we might be looking at a release date in a couple of months time if we're lucky.

Really great performance, and well captured whatever you might think (or say). Sounds like you've been having a bit of "trouble at 'mill" - keep persevering, it'll be worth it in the end for all the BFL fans out there (including me). I'll probably do some more BFL at some point, but at that the moment, I'm concentrating on (more or less) putting on yt my Kate Bush catalogue. All the best, topcat

Aw shucks topcat, means a helluva lot coming from you. If there were Academy Awards for YouTube then you'd be a fitting nominee for Best Picture/Director, or all round "King Of The World" to quote Titanic-era James Cameron (though young karp821's showing a lot of promise IMAO as a pretender to the throne! I can't begin to compete). So relieved I didn't hastily post all my vids for this gig in relatively poor qual, but rather waited 'til I'd finally muddled my way to a solution. BFL's worth it!
