CAGESIDE MMA Guillotine Choke Counter

Adam "Soul Horse" Song and Valentin "El Tigre" Bueno demonstrate a couple of solid guillotine counters at Ring Lords Vale Tudo in Cary, NC.

Escape 1-a Mario Sperry/BTT technique. If you can pass your arm over you opponent's neck while trapped inside the guillotine, you can apply this technique. The person escaping the guillotine will have the greater leverage, and be able to even twist a larger, stronger opponent with this technique. Try it for yourself and see. Use your whole body to turn, and drop your opposite knee straight to the mat. IMPORTANT: LET GO OF YOUR GRIP AS YOU HIT THE MAT, or your opponent WILL continue to roll you. As Mario Sperry says, "I don't want it!"

Escape 2-a Ring Lords staple..the pick up! Keep driving your opponent to the wall...if he is arching hard to finish you, it will be easy to rush him backwards. Once he is there, walk your hips in close, and use your legs to lift, MAINTAINING GOOD POSTURE. Just like in wrestling when shooting for a double leg, you want a nice, straight back. Done properly, the arm does very, very little work, and it is all in the legs and core. You should be able to pick up an opponent 50++ lbs. heavier with the right technique, and you can potentially finish the fight with this technique.

Best two, most effective guillotine escapes from standing on youtube. These work 99 percent of the time. If the choker jumps guard, go to technique one, and pass the arm over the head, stretch the head, create pain, and free your head and posture up when he releases.  he will release.
