Tutorial: Signing up for Sloog in Second Life

This tutorial shows you how to sign up for http://www.sloog.org

This tutorial will teach you how to sign up for a SLOOG account, which allows you to tag places in Second Life.

First, you need to sign in to Second Life.

Then, you will want to teleport to the Mosi Mosi sim, where you can sign up for sloog. You can find the teleport location on the main page of www.sloog.org, as it is one of the most tagged places. Click "teleport". When the browser asks you to open the link in Second Life click OK. A teleport location will appear in Second Life, and you should click "Teleport".

Now you will have teleported to the Mosi Mosi sim. Once the sim has rezzed, enter the pavilion and fly to the floating walkway. Walk to the end of the green walkway and you will see a green structure. It will say "Touch me to get the HUD". Right click on the green structure and you will receive a help notecard and the Sloog HUD. Make sure to "keep" both of these items.

The HUD will allow you to tag places, but you need to wear it first. Click on your inventory button in the lower right and type "SLOOG" in the search box. You should see an item called "SLOOG HUD". Left click on the item and select "wear". The HUD itself should appear in your upper left corner and you will receive a message from the HUD in the bottom left saying it is listening.

To practice tagging a place, click the orange pushpin button in the sloog menu. The HUD will ask you to type your keywords in chat, space separated, and then press return. You can see I typed "sloog".

Now, if you want to get onto the sloog website to see the places you have tagged, you will need to receive a password. Walk forward and you will see a black sign with a target that says "HOW TO GET A NEW PASSWORD". Click on the board. The password reset will post your new password into Local Chat.

Then, switch back to your browser. At sloog.org click "log in" on the top right. Then enter your avatar's first and last name in the blanks provided, as well as the password that the password provider gave you in chat.

Now you are logged in to sloog. To see all the places you have tagged, click on your name at the top right. Your profile will display along with all the places you have tagged.
