Because I was so inspired by the Obama's, because I'm ready for change. Thank you to all the volunteers and the 14 million extra people who came out to vote. Nine hundred some-odd days on the campaign trail, 47 debates, a new day. Historic to be sure.
We, The Fritters, just happened to write this song earlier this year. I didn't get to hear all the acceptance speech, so when I heard the sound byte that included, "when we get there", I knew I had to do this. My husband and I and many of our friends have supported him. Congratulations. I am proud to call him President.
And I sure hope I don't make anyone mad using these clips. When We Get There by The Fritters
When we get there there'll be flowers
there'll be sunshine and fields of wheat
there'll be green grass for us to run through
when we get there we'll see
When we get there, there'll be laughter
there'll be laughter and the sound of peace
When we get there there'll be justice
when we get there we'll see
no more hatred
no more sorrow
no more greed
no more lies
no more secrets
no more shadows
no more fear
no more strife
When we get there I'll be with you
I'll be with you holding your hand
When we get there we won't be lonely
we won't be lonely again.
When we get there we'll have angels
we'll have angels by our side
when we get there like the angels
with plenty of time
When we get there
among the flowers
among the flowers and fields of wheat
when we run through the green grass
when we get there we'll see.
music by Jim Bouchard, lyrics by Kelli King, 2008.
