MICHAEL MCKEAN SAID: "William Demarest was, in a lot of ways, kind of the primo Preston Sturges guy. He was a go-to guy. He does a fall in Miracle Of Morgan's Creek. He trys to kick his daughter. Which was a laudable impulse in the plot, as I recall. Trying to kick Diana Lynn in the butt. And he lets fly with a kick. Misses her by a good 6 inches. And flies straight up in the air and lands flat on his back. And you think: either this man has been killed or he's done a very very funny fall. And it turned out to be the latter. Because he stuck around for another probably 40 years."
It's about time that someone has recognized William Demerest! He was an awesome actor and could play any part well, especially comedic roles. A very under-rated, under-appreciated, and unsung actor. Thanks for giving him his due.

Loved William Demarest(& William Frawley), & loved the scene of the cook being thrown all over the galley of the land yacht. When they had the movie scenes in "Oh, Brother etc" I was immediately taken back to this. Sturges' mother was a friend of Isadora Duncan, & gave Duncan the long scarf that got caught in the drive of a car, & snapped her neck. Sturges wrote another of my faves, "Easy Living" which was recently released on DVD & starred Jean Arthur & Ray Milland
