Please note: this film is in Dutch and has no subtitles. Dutch fashion designer Edgar Vos died 13 January 2010. In 1989 he talked to the Anne Frank House about his imprisonment in a Japanese camp in the Dutch East Indies. About the Second World War Edgar Vos has said: What I learned during the war is how important it is that others help you when you are in trouble. This interview is one in a series of interviews the Anne Frank House has held with people who experienced the Second World War as a child. It is shown in three episodes on this channel.

  • We are sorry, but we do not have subtitles available for this video. We do acknowledge the fact that YouTube is an international community and therefore strive to provide subtitles for our non-English videos as much as we can.

  • Edgar Vos and Anne Frank did not know each other. Edgar was ten years old when the Japanes invaded the country he lived in, the Dutch East Indies. Together with his brother he was put in a Japanese camp. His brother did not survive. Like Anne Frank, Edgar Vos was one of the many children suffering from the war. This interview with him is one in a series of interviews the Anne Frank House has held with people who experienced the Second World War as a child.

  • What did he have to do with Anne Frank? I dont recall her mentioning him in the Diary. If she did, please inform me.

  • Is there any chance you could provide english subtitles? I hope you don't think me arrogant it's just I am a subscriber in the U.K. and I don't speak dutch! I feel like I'm missing out!! Since YouTube is an international community I think it could only benefit your channel if more people could understand the content of your video's. After all, Anne is an internationally recognised historical figure. :) Many thanks!
