Landing at Marble, CO, mid September 2010, density altitude approximately 10,000'. 1963 Cessna P172D, converted to 180hp Lycoming, semi-STOL, pilot + Golden Retriever + camping equipment. The Marble strip is a private airstrip approximately 3800' long, in a canyon at 7800' elev., in west central Colorado roughly 30 miles south of Glenwood Springs and 25 miles southwest of Aspen.

  • @laserblade74 If you have no high elevation mountain flying experience, I would not recommend flying in. Get some mountain flying instruction first. It's not a difficult strip for experienced mountain flyers, but it's literally a killer for the unprepared.

    But it is gorgeous, for sure. The owners of the property are gracious hosts, as well. If you do decide to fly in, you'll need their permission--it is a private strip.
